As part of his ongoing visits to NUST institutions, Rector NUST Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif visited NUST School of Social Sciences & Humanities (S3H) on December 31, 2024. Upon his arrival, Dr Zahid was warmly received by Pro Rector Academics, Dr Osman Hasan, and Principal S3H, Dr Zafar Mahmood. The visit began with a meeting at the Principal office, followed by a comprehensive briefing on S3H. The Rector then visited classrooms, faculty workspaces, Labs and facilities including Non-linear editing lab, TV Studio, and radio studio.

Later, Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif addressed the entire faculty of S3H. He emphasized the importance of social sciences and the critical role they play to promote change. “Social Scientists can change the society as they can change the societal structures,” he said. As educators and social scientists, we must ensure our work leads to promoting harmony, which in turn will establish peace, as both are pre-requisites to prosperity, he added. Putting accent on the great responsibility attached to the noble profession of teaching, he reiterated that education without values is like a body without soul, hence the education imparted to students must be wholesome, inculcating both academic competence and essential sociocultural values. He also praised the efforts of S3H faculty towards upholding high standards teaching and learning.
